How to Download Your Instagram Followers List (2026)

There is no download button in the Instagram app. Your own official data export includes your followers and following. Someone else's public list can be read, not downloaded as their private file.

SUS cover: how to download your own Instagram followers list.

Instagram does not put a Download followers button on a profile. If you want a file, you request your own information from Instagram. That file is about your account. It is not a download of someone else's private activity.

A public followers list can still be opened and read. Reading it is not the same as receiving Instagram's official export.

Download your own lists

Open Instagram, go to Settings and activity, then Accounts Center. Choose Your information and permissions, then Download your information. Request a download and include followers and following. Pick a date range and a format. Instagram emails a link when the file is ready. It can take a while.

That file is the official copy of your own followers and the accounts you follow. It is the long way to see names you already have in the app. Your following list in the app can already be sorted by date, which is the record described in follow history.

What you cannot download

You cannot request another person's data export. If their account is public, their followers and following are visible as lists, not as a file Instagram sends you. If the account is private and has not accepted you, the lists are not there. See why the list is missing.

Apps that ask for your Instagram password in order to "export anyone" are asking to become you. Public lists do not need your password.

A file is not a timeline by itself

One export is a snapshot of names at one moment. To see who left, you need a second export later and a comparison. That is the same idea as who unfollowed you, done with your own files.

SUS skips the wait for your own following dates and reads the date sort on your list.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a CSV button in the app?

No. The official route is Download your information.

Does the export include dates?

Your own data can include when you followed accounts. Someone else's public page does not hand you those dates.

Can I download a private account's followers?

No, unless you already follow them and they accepted you, and even then you are looking at a list, not their data file.

Will they know I requested my own download?

Your own export is about you. It does not notify other people.

What to take away

Download your information for your own lists. Do not expect a button that exports someone else. For the dates on who you follow, your profile already has a sort, and SUS puts that on a timeline.
